Center for Security Policy Federation of American Scientists The Federation of American Scientists conducts analysis and advocacy on science, technology and public policy, including national security, nuclear weapons, arms sales, biological hazards, secrecy, and space policy. FAS is a privately-funded nonprofit policy organization whose Board of Sponsors includes 51 of America's Nobel laureates in the sciences. The Henry L. Stimson Center is an independent, nonprofit, public policy institute committed to finding and promoting innovative solutions to the security challenges confronting the United States and other nations in the twenty-first century. Stockholm International Peace Research Institute SIPRI conducts research on questions of conflict and cooperation of importance for international peace and security, with the aim of contributing to an understanding of the conditions for peaceful solutions of international conflicts and for a stable peace. SIPRI developed an education module on chemical & biological weapons (CBW). Cal Poly CBW Page - Chemical and Biological Warfare This page was developed by the students in at Cal Poly during the Spring of 1996. The goal of the site is to provide an overview of chemical and biological warfare, weapons, and efforts to outlaw them. Chemical and Biological Arms Control Institute (CBACI) CBACI conducts research on chemical and biological weapons with special focus on the issues of health and security, terrorism and arms control. Chemical, Biological & Nuclear Systems This is the site of Mitretek Systems, a nonprofit organization that provides scientific research, engineering, and development in the public interest. The site contains a significant amount of information on chemical, biological and nuclear warfare. Founded in 1981, the Nuclear Control Institute (NCI) is an independent research and advocacy center specializing in problems of nuclear proliferation. Nonpartisan and nonprofit, we monitor nuclear activities worldwide and pursue strategies to halt the spread and reverse the growth of nuclear arms. Institute for Science and International Security ISIS is a nonprofit, nonpartisan institution dedicated to informing the public about science and policy issues affecting international security. Its efforts focus on stopping the spread of nuclear weapons, bringing about greater transparency of nuclear activities worldwide, and achieving deep reductions in nuclear arsenals. ISIS's projects integrate technical, scientific, and policy research in order to build a sound foundation for a wide variety of efforts to reduce the threat posed by nuclear weapons to U.S. and international security. Russian American Nuclear Security Advisory Council RANSAC was created in 1997 with the purpose of developing new U.S.-Russian cooperative nuclear security initiatives, and ensuring that existing programs become deeply rooted and are implemented expeditiously. This site contains detailed information about 1) stabilizing and transforming the nuclear weapon complexes 2) securing nuclear warheads and weapon-usable materials; Limiting production of fissile materials 3) disposing of excess fissile materials 4) and establishing transparency in the nuclear weapon reduction process. International OrganizationsComprehensive Test Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO) This is the web-site for the Preparatory Commission for the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization. Here you will find updates on the status of the signature and ratification, information on the provisions of the CTBT, and descriptions of the monitoring technology to be used once the treaty enters into force. International Atomic Energy Agency This is the main server of the International Atomic Energy Agency with links to IAEA publications such as the Bulletin and Newsbriefs. Updated information and data are available on the status of IAEA safeguards agreements, documents, and resolutions of IAEA General Conferences, Annual Reports, and safeguards implementation. This is one of the most useful sites for accessing up-to-date information on IAEA safeguards and nuclear nonproliferation. Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) This is the website for the Technical Secretariat of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons. The website provides information on the Chemical Weapons Convention but also on other issues relating to toxic chemicals and chemical protection. There is also a detailed overview of chemical weapons and protection against them.
